The University of Economics in Prague (Czech: Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze) was founded in 1953, and since then it has been the largest and one of the most prestigious economic universities in the Czech Republic.
The university is often referred to as the Higher School of Economics, which is also a correct name.

The University provides a high standard of quality education combined with innovative approaches. It is the only state university dealing exclusively with economic and management issues. The University is 100 years old in 2019, and over the century of its existence it has proven its importance in the educational and research system not only in the Czech Republic, but throughout Europe.
HSE cooperates with many world universities, including the famous Sorbonne, Harvard, Princeton, Cambridge, Michigan and many other universities. The Financial Times praised the quality of education at HSE and included the university in the rating of the best business schools in Europe.
The quality of education provided at the Higher School of Economics in Prague is best illustrated by prestigious rankings in Europe and around the world. In 2017, the main economic university in Prague took the 2nd place in the ranking of "Best Business Schools in Eastern Europe" according to the French consulting agency Eduniversal, and once again made it to the TOP-300 of the best economic universities in the world according to the prestigious QS ranking.
The university is focused on the development of scientific potential of its students. For this purpose, a central library, a special student information portal, a number of computer classes with the latest technology and access to the network, and conditions for comfortable accommodation for students have been created. The dormitory of the Higher School of Economics in Prague is considered to be one of the most comfortable among other universities in the Czech Republic. Moreover, the university administration pays much attention to the sports development of students. For this purpose, special sections are created and new gym equipment is bought.

Graduates of HSE have truly grandiose prospects. The university is known as the alma mater of most representatives of the modern government of the Czech Republic. The former and current presidents of the Czech Republic, Václav Klaus and Milos Zeman, are no exception. Large international companies have a special interest in graduates of this university, most of HSE students are employed during their studies. About 10% of graduates continue their career abroad. The salaries of graduates range from 20,000 to 40,000 CZK already in the first years after graduation (detailed overview of Czech graduates' salaries).

After completing the Prague Education Center preparatory course, he entered the prestigious economic university VŠE.
Entry requirements for foreign applicants: foreigners additionally take a 4-part Czech language test. The test contains 50 tasks (2 points for each task) and lasts 60 minutes. In order to be admitted to the main examinations, the applicant must score at least 60 points.

Entrance exams are usually held in June, applications are accepted until the end of April. In addition to the entrance examinations, foreigners will have to pass a Czech language proficiency test. The Prague Education Center offers a program of comprehensive preparation for the entrance exams to the Higher School of Economics (1170 ac. hours), which includes the study of core subjects, terminology and intensive Czech language course.
Higher education institution provides students with comfortable dormitories. There are 8 dormitories (koleje VŠE) on the territory of the university. There are rooms for different number of people: single, double and triple rooms. The dormitories have kitchens, laundry rooms for washing personal belongings, sports rooms equipped with fitness equipment. Student housing is located close to public transportation and metro stops.
VŠE offers several types of scholarships: academic, living and social scholarships.
The scholarship for academic excellence is awarded only to the best students. In order to receive this scholarship, you need to submit an application to the academic department of the faculty, which must be accompanied by the results of exams for the last semester. The grade point average can vary between 1 and 1.5.
A living stipend is available to all students who are not registered in Prague. Its purpose is to partially cover living expenses. The scholarship is paid only for full-time study and amounts to about 2,000 CZK, which is deposited in the student's bank account every three months.
